soreee currently on a connor paolo mode. =D

i miss my freedom. i miss waking up early in the morning and doing stuff that i can call my own and having my own bad style and not caring what people think.
this must be half what it's like being in jail.

anyhow i just felt like talking so i'm talking to you, dear blog readers. YES GRACE I KNOW I'M HOTT =) i wanted to buy the pilot book today at borders you know. impulse.

hahaha so i better type all this and get everything i wanna say out before my 5000 or so words are used up or something. (cuz km and alvin are talking to me, and they're really chatty =)

ah today was borrring wasn't in the mood for studying AT ALL especially chem and chinese and MATHS UGH. so i was just stoning and making fun of stuff with happy groupmates.

AFTER SCHOOL went to parkway i was alone at first then met up with ashley and xianhui and they bought ICECREAM from scoopz which was like blah lah then we went to find some presents for my homies. happy to say that i managed to find everything i was happy with and more, cuz i found cool books in borders. i mean, BOOKS?! that's like the last thing i would seriously shop for lah. i mean, i just started SHOPPING, so i'm like a noob. the only things i've gone for are cds and clothes. just recently the clothes part. and i've shopped well i must say. talk about retail therapy.

NAT GEO MUSIC's webbie is streaming one of the most amazing events you could ever witness, LIVE FROM REYKJAVIK. yes folks, it's the Nattura concert (absolutely free! in iceland! what the hell!) featuring BJORK and SIGUR ROS. wow. no wonder it's worth the wake.
anyway, i've got a cup of iced milk tea specially prepared for this event by my side. lemme go get it right now.

okay. back. whee. this is exciting. maybe i'll be able to stream the video. maybe they'll be early. maybe i won't. but the milk tea is tasting MIGHTY good. =)

funny spoof video about john mccain. + JOHN MCCAIN GETS BACK!

dubai just next week!
wow it's been so quick. i don't know what to think. sigur ros is playing beside me and there are nudes in the video. i'm so anxious most of all. and not as excited as i would have liked to have been. tomorrow it's the last parent day with something tame. um, macritchie reservoir. my holiday is almost over. for some, it's already over. i don't know what to think of that too.

well, golf IS interesting. tiger woods shot this really nice shot from a bunker into the hole. it bounced and entered. swweeet.

get this: hopelandic. it's becoming quite popular with icelandic artists nowadays.
Hopelandic (vonlenska in icelandic) is the 'invented language' in which the artist sings before lyrics are written to the vocals. It's of course not an actual language by definition (no vocabulary, grammar, etc.), it's rather a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music and acts as another instrument.

grace, i owe you an apology and probably more.
and i'm trying to return the debt,
but i'm paying for it with guilt.

you think i'd rather spend the day with you, or my friggin parents!?

hope i can make it up to you sometime.
sorry again.

Asa - Fire On The Mountain
Asa's style is very different from others. unique is something i would say to describe her. her music is breezy and her lyrics, fresh. really, Asa brings something new to the music scene now, instead of the pop-fuelled pretentious heartbreaks and teen angst, we have politically-inspired lyrics from this talented singer. Live 8 style. GO NIGERIA.
p.s. she was born in France i think.

well, just went down to braddell with ADEEB, GRA, JIEQI, KEVIN AND YASMIN (alphabetical order). to collect class teeshirts. but the idiot who's been delaying the teeshirts delayed it yet again, that brainless moron. so we took a train down to Bishan where Junction 8 lives and we ate a well-craved lunch there. after that i left and took a nice long bus ride home. 55 to school, then 48 back.
was secretly hoping 55 would pass by Parkway so that i could could use it as an excuse to check in Sembawang for my beloved Joanna Newsom CD "Ys" but unfortunately it turned into upper east coast road at the Marine Parade Library junction. -.-'' oh well.

I Am.

Who works from morn to set of sun?
And never likes to be outdone?
Whose walk is almost like a run?
Who? Aries!

All will hear my views and voice
Trial and error is my school of choice
Like a dragon, dashing and daring I appear
Fighting for those that I hold dear
I am Aries - Child of Mars

Who on this world of ours their eyes
In March first open shall be wise
In days of peril, strong and brave
And wear a Bloodstone to their grave.

TOMORROW, km's house. no doubt i'll let him fill me in on my Dearly Beloved-
KINGDOM HEARTS 3.

i'm so sick of it.
you guys are definitely making me sick, witlessly, talking about SHIT that i don't wanna hear from you.

the sick is real. i feel it rising slowly up my guts. making my stomach really churn. i feel this heat emanating from my body even though it's a rather cold day.

i just can't put my finger on it. i think i can list words to describe it. but it doesn't really help.

anger
fear
regret
frustration
disgust
sadness
rebellion
self-pity
loathing
helplessness
longing.

i. need. to. calm. down.

forgive me. Bic Runga - Sway
Don't stray, don't ever go away
Sometimes, when you and I collide
I fall into an ocean of you, pull me out in time
Don't let me drown, let me down
I say it's all because of you
And here I go, losing my control
I say it's infinitely true

Say you'll stay, don't come and go

Kate Nash - Dickhead

Bic Runga - Sway
don't let her looks fool you, this woman can sing well. not the overwrought emotion of Bjork maybe, but she makes up for it in earnestness and sincerity. and she's like, the pioneer of guitar-playing girls like Colbie Calliat and Marie Digby. haha it's like a history lesson without the teardrops on any guitars.

just a random note, i should start singing Sondre Lerche songs. i love his soothing register.

went to watch Kungfu Panda today with my awesome mates, Mervyn and Kashish and JunJie. can't believe i'm still so close to them, sometimes i think i don't actually deserve it. but i'm really grateful. =) if you're reading this, THANK YOU. on a side note, why do we always decide on screwed up movies that we can't agree with whenever we go out? listing out our choices:
I Am Legend: Mervyn and I loved it, shishkebab and JJ hated it.
Alvin and the FRIGGIN chipmunks: LOUSY. OMG.
Sweeney Todd (<3): it's the love. Kash and JJ hated it, Mervyn you haven't even watched it yet. -.-''
Kungfu Panda: yet another movie Kashish, you didn't like. it was OKAY what! turtleman was cool, and the Dustin Hoffman character REALLY did look like Dustin Hoffman.

what else was there. oh yes, i'm VERY keen to go on another night (over?) cycling trip. someone organise!!!!! XDDD

arhgoeifgnmr sorry grace forgot about your big fri DAY. why didn't you sms?
anyway, parents are taking offday again this friday to monday WTFFFF that's like four days of my holidays gone. and i only had, technically, 15. thanks alot, MOM and DAD.

Emmy Rossum - Slow Me Down
amazing, amazing song. reminds me of Imogen Heap's Hide And Seek. absolute favourite for vocal pop fans.

Wednesday, June 04, 2008

have you ever felt scared of your handphone?
of what it's gonna do next?
of the likelihood that it's gonna ring?
of who's gonna send you a message expecting a reply that you don't feel like giving?
of the countless numbers of relationships that can be ended with you not putting yourself into the conversation?

i noticed something interesting in the video "Today The Sun's On Us" (posted below). just before the song starts, the guy seems to hold the girl from the cliff. but if you look closer, you'll see that he actually pushes her with a small but firm motion from behind, and that she had no choice but to spin around and grab him desperately, ending in an awkward embrace. really, the power of video. it was this video that made me slightly confused over the song too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASYRAF. =) it was great spending even MORE time with the class today even though we spent time yesterday as well HAHA. i repeat, shopping is tiring.

singfest is coming up! it's on 2nd & 3rd August, and the artist lineup is fine. anyone already interested in going?
Panic At The Disco
Alicia Keys
Travis
OneRepublic
Jamie Scott
Simple Plan
Lost Prophets

i am looking forward to the OVERNIGHT CYCLING TRIP which will be held TOMORROW THURSDAY 5TH JUNE meeting at somewhere NEAR VJ at 6.30pm for DINNER. =P
everyone is welcome, so please sms me for details, and make sure the big people in your house are okay with it!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Today The Sun's On Us

this song is extremely beautiful, so if you liked Gwen Stefani's Early Winter, you are sure to like this song. i know i do. but i'm still slightly puzzled over the meaning of the song though. help me out someone, please!
(psst, guess which country the song was videoed in! XD)

there's SERIOUSLY a problem with my cd drive. it fucking doesn't wanna read any cds that i put inside. and that's a BIG problem cuz alot of my songs come from cds. i just borrowed Hard Candy by Madonna from simin yesterday and it won't play. -.-''

yesterday was AWESOME!!! we went to pizza hut and i was late and had a pizza. for the first time in my life i think i got bored of pizza. XD
after that walked to suntec (...) and took a bus to Kallang! which was up to recently deserted but now it's picking up again. hopefully the business comes back so our ICE SKATING RINK survives. =) ice skating's the best. didn't fall even once. played catching (eh, mature okay! XP) with lucas and adeeb and asyraf. hahahaha then gra joined in. and wadee too! in her pink jacket thingy. simin and gwen were there as well! they were cool (literally) too. really improved!

oh yeah, we are planning a(n) (over)night cycling trip on friday or monday. depending. anyone interested? contact LUCAS.

Friday, May 30, 2008

today has been an exhausting but fulfilling day.

firstly, i walked 10km in the afternoon. =) maybe more, i don't know. but definitely at least 10km.
secondly, El Perro del Mar was featured on the newspaper and i discovered she's great.
thirdly, We Are Scientists is another amazing band which i have listened to and found out which probably sounds like a more organic, rocky version of Cobra Starship. but their song After Hours reminds me of Blink-182 crashing with The Futureheads.
fourthly, Rihanna is finally coming out with a good song - Take A Bow.

tiredness takes a toll on my interpersonal skills. sorry to Song who got sianed-out messages sent to him, even though he's such a nice guy.

won't post a video, cuz 1. everyone's probably sick of my vids alr and 2. too tired to find something that everyone likes.

The Concretes - Seems Fine
how can you not love this song?! hahahahahahaha better than your g-5, g-5 anytime. or your nasaly YEAH YEAH YEAHs in the background of Duffy's song. check it out!

just finished chem after watching narnia, it was a good show. wish the sound system was better though. didn't feel totally absorbed in the movie. asyraf you got the good seat okay.
Tilda Swinton = <3

just one drop. that's all it takes.

i owe lucas this for not reading it earlier! =) a detailed description of our "satisfying, GEMS* bus ride". i think it's a very good account of what happened. go singapore service! =)
*GEMS - "going the extra mile for service" singapore services campaign

Yesterday night, the 12th of May, at around 7 p.m, I was on the bus 36, with licence plate SBS461D.

I was going to the Esplanade with my Friends to enjoy a concert. 36 is a very popular route- the bus was very crowded. My friends and I were clearly squished at the back of the bus, and the bus driver still kept shouting at everyone, rudely, to move to the back.

Then, when we arrived at the Esplanade, we tried to get out of the bus, along with 7 other people we did not know (making a total of 10). The bus driver quickly opened the doors, letting only 2 people out before shutting the doors again. It was very clear that we were trying to get out still- there were some people closer at the front where the driver could see them trying to get out. On top of that, we (including the people we did not know) began to press the STOP buttons repeatedly so he would reopen the doors- at least 10 times- however he refused to even though we were still only 1 meter away from the bus stop. We stayed at that position for around 10-15 seconds- enough time, in my opinion, to hastily exit.

To our amazement, the doors remained closed, and we had to drop off at the next bus stop and walk all the way backwards. Luckily, we were early for the concert- had it been any later we would not have been allowed entrance until the intermission an hour and a half after the start of the concert.

Maybe the bus driver was late on his route and was trying to speed up the journey, however, as an appalled customer, I feel that he did not save any time and that ultimately, as a bus service, SBS Transit should be trying to meet the goal of delivering passengers to where they want (and pay to) go.

my complaint.

Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love
watchwatchwatch it's a very revered song in musical history.

i'm sick.
doesn't feel very good.
got so many things planned, hope i remember them. and it's only the second day of the holidays.

Monday, May 26, 2008

there are so many (a million and one) things going on and through my head and mind right now i don't know where to start or what to say, i just know i have to get them all out.

rage anger humiliation frustration pity joy enthusiasm excitedness worry uncertainty bleakness dreams.

number one, numero uno, i'm just so tired of complaining about my parents but i really have no other option left to me besides the unlikely one of writing a letter. it's so frustrating sometimes but i hate them so much right now. i thought i was over this phase but apparently not as you can clearly see. i've tried so hard to look at them in a different light and it was quite working for these past months and i've just gotten into the stride of it but they had to screw it up and i'm very unwillingly disappointed in them again. screw them. really. promise.
maybe i'm over-thinking things. but when the emotion strikes me at the moment, it really catches me up in itself and nothing else matters except it. isn't that proof that i'm not really working hard enough?

and whatelse there's so much hope in me still. hope away from the family. the things that comprise it are just too dominant to be looked at. so i ignore. looking at things that are hopefully going to happen with other people in other places in other times, with everything i'm not fully comfortable with but yet comfortable at the same time with the best of people. surrounded by what i love. what i wish for.

music is not a routine in life. music is life.

i've been meaning to put this song up for awhile now.
it's hope.

Relient K - Life After Death And Taxes (Failure II)

and this is how I choose to live
as if I'm jumping off a cliff
knowing that you'll save me
knowing that you'll save me
and after all the stupid things I did
there's nothing left that you'd forgive
because you already forgave me
yeah you already forgave me

ahhhhh EMILIE SIMON IS COOLLL. like literally. she did the amazing majestic soundtrack of "La Marche de l'empereur" (here: The March of the Penguins), a documovie of the lives of Emperor penguins.
she reminds me SO MUCH, in these few tracks, of Mum in their Summer Make Good album, except that she's more accessible. the same whispery, ethereal vocals, fading in and out, Imogen Heap-esque even sometimes.

just finished watching (in Chronological order):

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull AHAHAHA SHIA LABEOUF WAS BRILLIANT =)
El orfanato (translated: The Orphanage), a Guillermo del Toro film, very sad and with the same mysterious, supernatural atmosphere as his other film which i watched, El laberinto del fauno or here known as Pan's Labyrinth. watched if you liked Pan's Labyrinth or Flightplan.
Meet the Fockers - nothing much to say. aaaaassshhh hooooo.

my pictures are not emo.
really.

the ultimate dependence on your handphone: looking to it for guidance to remember what you're supposed to write for your supposedly intellectual blogpost.

let me get this out of my head. WHOEVER TOLD ME KENAN OR KEL DIED, SCREW YOU. THEY'RE STILL ALIVE. -.-''

it's the HOLIDAYS coming up next week and it fucking just STRUCK me on the head like that while i was looking at my white sheets of paper. it left me feeling revolted and worried and smarting. it's kinda insulting too, really. what i pride myself in is now like, nonexistent at the current moment(s).
ever got that really sad bittersweet nostalgic moment while you were watching something that you planned to watch? yep i got it last last night, and it still lingered on me today while watching this show. it's samurai x. don't laugh, really. it's a classic. i suddenly realised how "ducking" much i missed it. ahhh. it's weird how emotions just come to you when you really least expect it. like david archuleta looking so overwhelmed with emotion after every song in the finals! haha but that might just be an act...oh well give him the benefit of the doubt SINCE he's such a nice person. btw, i've added the dvd set to my wishlist. i don't really have a long wishlist unlike other people. from the top of my head,

1. The Sandman collection
2. Pink/ Red PSP MODIFIED with 4 gb memory card
3. uh...Samurai X DVD entire collection
4. A whole ducking lot of CDs

DAVID ARCHULETA WILL WIN I TELL YOU. GO DAVID!!!
simon cowell is officially an ass.

hahah and i found something to audiophile about. her name's emilie simon. something exciting and refreshing to feast my ears on. oh and it's really a blast all of a sudden. here's The Feeling with Sewn.

Give me the song and I'll sing it like I mean it
Give me the words and I'll say them like I mean it

Cos you got my heart in a headlock
You stop my blood make my head soft

And god knows

You got me sewn

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah

Danny boy, don't be afraid, to shake that ass, and

misbehave
Danny boy, I now you got time, but what are you waiting
for,
Anyway the dust may just blow away, if you wait for a
windy day
But you may find the chance has passed you by;

I can't do the walk
I can't do the talk
I can't be your friend
Unless I pretend

Yeah.

Madonna - 4 Minutes (Feat. Justin Timberlake)
random: my fingers are doing less work than i think they actually are. XD

ever get the feeling while you're watching tv that you're gonna have so much more to do on the computer?
well i got it and once i actually got ON the com, i couldn't remember half the things i wanted to do. and it wasn't really fun. =(

If you never say your name out loud to anyone They can never ever call you by it

all they want is to feel it
we won't be what you want to be, OH NO

pull it close, pull it closer, i play it close
head-to-toes tonight, recognizing the ghost
and the machine getting in between the thought and the finger.
at the brink of an evolution, we're going to linger
come on!

that's broken social scene for you. pure refreshment. =)

it's something i really need right now cuz i've spent the whole day cooped up at home studying. and there are so many thoughts in my head sometimes and some of them really make sense and sometimes i don't know whether to believe them or not.
or maybe my whole thinking is totally wrong and i'm chasing a red herring. or something like that.

i've been really intrigued with the matrix. i superduper want to watch the whole series. the videos i get online are crap. =(

there goes the white rabbit!
i feel a headache coming on.
