crazy, crazy woman and a crazy, crazy world.

it's not usually that mid/downtempo songs catch me and hook on. but this one has. just to share,
here's
Marina and the Diamonds
with I Am Not A Robot

You're vulnerable, you're vulnerable
You are not a robot
You're loveable, so loveable
But you're just troubled

Guess what? I'm not a robot, a robot
Guess what? I'm not a robot, a robot

on another note, this post goes out to you, readers of my humble blog. yes, this 569th post. you who's ever read my entries or listened to my music or tagged on my tagboard. thank you for listening and just being here. =)

"What else is love but understanding and rejoicing in the fact that another person lives, acts and experiences otherwise than we do?" - Friedrich Nietzche

"Today, I was watching Jaws. If you watch Jaws backwards, it's a movie about a shark that keeps throwing up people until they have to open a beach. MLIA."

LOL.

i haven't posted in very long?

well it seems like it.

hmm there's nothing much i can say. orientation is going to be fun, i'm going to make sure of it. this week's ogl training is something interesting, although the turnout rate wasn't fantastic. we have fantastic og heads and it's something i'm really appreciative of =)

okay. set a good example, keep the nastiness to a minimum. especially your inane sharp tongue.

cheer, like WOOO HOOO and etc. oh and remember your og cheers, it's so paiseh when you actually forget them.

and live up and give your juniors the best (or close enough) that you can. think your first ogls. fantastic people. admittedly, one of them was an og head lol. Joel.

buhbye.

hey world, i've decided to share my joy with you!

i've finished one essay. just one. but it's like 4 pages long in arial size 12. quite long, i'll say. i'm not one for many redundant words. let me give you a quote about poetry adapted from Sylvia Plath.

"It is a moment of contact, of impact, 'a closed fist' to use her own image, compared to the 'open hand' of the novel. And while that open hand can bring in all kinds of details, the closed fist 'excludes and stuns'."

the 2009 Mercury Prize winner. lots of bands nominated that i know of this year. but none of them won. including Florence and the Machine, La Roux, Glasvegas, Bat for Lashes (ugh), and Lisa Hannigan.

and here is...SPEECH DEBELLE with Spinnin'. love her lisp.

share something else with you guys.
you might find this meaningful, you might not.

it's for us to get off our lazy butts and do something for the world.

The dog days are over
The dog days are gone
Can you hear the horses
'Cuz here they come

Run fast for your mother and fast for your father
Run for your children for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your loving behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive

my obsession with Florence and the Machine has grown to greater heights.

this is a perfect time for posting. when i have an hour and a half left with my body clock to finish up 3 essays. it's impossible even in exam conditions. but ah well, i've semi-given up.

fuck this. too many essays, too little data to work with.

before i go,

Florence + The Machine - Drumming Song

Sunday, January 10, 2010

"Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in-a-your window"

- Kate Bush, "Wuthering Heights"

powerful stuff.

i'm into this band at the moment.

powerful stuff.

Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

Incidentally, Glasgow is one of the Cities of Music. incredible. the only bands i know from there are Glasvegas and Camera Obscura.

leonie, are you referring to this particular clip?

HotforWords - Bad Grammar (parody of The Way I Are)

Sunday, January 03, 2010

today i woke up thirsty.

it felt good after that.

when i post it here, the magic will be all gone.

sorry, rachna. here, for the world to see, is the genius of Regina Spektor in her most spellbinding and adorable song for me to date, Us.

Regina Spektor - Us

and i shall post my favourite lyrics from the song.

They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
The tourists come and stare at us
The sculptor's marble sends regards
They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
Our noses have begun to rust
We're living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
Were living in a den of thieves

and, just for fun, because it's so fun to sing, i'll put the phrase here.

And it's contagious

not to be angsty or anything, but MY PARENTS SUCK.
one of their problems is encouragement. they don't know how to treat their kids like a maturing young person. and because of the passivity that they have, it totally sucks. especially when they put you down, unknowingly. it still smarts.

and i can't seem to get my mind to homework.

Sylvia Plath is angsty. i'm tired of her, for now.

uh, happy 2010!
um, this is awkward.
