imagine being there. their live performances just have this different texture and sound to them every performance, as compared to the equivalent songs on the studio albums. incredible. this is the meaning of live performance.

what sets bjork completely apart from other performances is her ideas and the ideas you can sense are just barely held back onto the stage. she interacts with the other performers, makes them feel necessary, and gives them space to show that they are part of the song and the music. she explained volta to me, it's the fusion of earthly and industrial sounds. what we humans are. it explains everything on the album. especially the brass.
