even if i don't feel the necessity now, i think i should let this out before i have to express it again.
it's about subject combination. my biggest irk is that my parents simply see KI and lit as "airy-fairy" subjects, a term which i have come to wholeheartedly dislike, as if it were a girl's unshaved hairy armpits. it truly disgusts me. and the worst part is that i have to argue in order to have a chance at getting the combination that i want, but it's frustrating when you're humiliated if you lose the argument.
really, i don't have anything against physics. the subject has been cool, the teachers have been good, it's just that given a choice i would prefer to take something more humanities-based. however my parents (being the ever-so-pragmatic people that they are) think this subject combination thing is to get the right combination of subjects simply to SCORE WELL at the As. i disagree (in my mind of course) as i think these are the few crucial years to cultivate your interests and find out about yourself and your abilities. furthermore, i feel that a good humanities backing would put myself in a better position to understand my plans as being a lawyer/economist/marketing agent etc.
maybe another thing i'm upset about is my performance for chinese. it's belittling when your own parents laugh at you in front of others. maybe i'm a more sensitive person. maybe it's one of my nuances. but i don't like it. all i need is healthy encouragement. don't talk down to me. heck, i don't even want you to talk UP to me. just treat me as someONE.
okay now that i look back maybe i'm just in a crappy mood. i need to study more though. i sometimes hate it when they're right. because then they condescend and TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND WHAT NOT TO DO and i am in no position to say anything to the contrary BECAUSE I'M WRONG.
